KHOI AND SAN
- The contemporary South
African population began to appear in the
subcontinent some 40 000 years ago. It seems that there is a direct link
between the original late Stone Age population which then inhabited South
Africa and the Khoisan.
- Khoisan is a combiend word indicating two closely related languages, and
population groups, the Khoi and the San. While Khoi is a self-name, San is
merely what the Khoi called the group which the later white settlers called
bushmen.
